"But It Doesn't Have Me" follows a woman's fight with multiple sclerosis, the incurable disease that binds her to a wheelchair. Deb Waldron's hopes are high as she tries a new method to cure herself: spraying her body with a silver solution. It's one of dozens of unconventional treatments Deb, a massage therapist and healer herself, will go through as she seeks alternatives to Western medicine, which she feels has done her wrong. Her obsession to heal herself unravels through home videos, photographs, and interviews with friends and family, including her son, with whom she has a tumultuous relationship. As much as Deb desires to heal and teach others, she struggles to accept living with the debilitating disease, trying dozens of alternative therapies over years as her health declines. The film's careful study of Deb's pursuit of treatment and its effects on her and her relationships demonstrates the desperation of living with an incurable disease.
