A recent New York Times story on a Waldorf School in the heart of Silicon Valley, sparked
national media attention. “Preparing for Life” picks up where that story left off -- capturing
the essence of how Waldorf education prepares children to be 21st century smart. Talking
with Silicon Valley entrepreneurs, Stanford researchers, investment bankers, and parents
who run some of the largest hi-tech companies in the world, “Preparing for Life” explores
what children need, to not only succeed in navigating the challenges of the future, but to
find purpose and happiness in their lives.

Probably everyone knows someone whose child has attended a Waldorf school. Teachers
instill in children a love of learning and a passion for how subjects are truly relevant to their
world. They are led to think ‘outside of the box’, to innovate, and create new forms. The
approach is multi-faceted, artistic, and rigorous. The philosophy is that when more senses
are involved in the learning process the more likely children will retain and personalize that
information. This film offers compelling perspectives by Waldorf teachers, students, and
alumni. It presents the views of Silicon Valley entrepreneurs and investment bankers, Stan-ford researchers, and parents who run some of the largest tech companies in the world.
“Preparing for Life” is a provocative documentary that underscores the importance of de-veloping capacities over skills; fostering creativity, resilience, innovative thinking, and the
benefits of social and emotional intelligence.

Waldorf School of the Peninsula is one of the 160 Waldorf Schools in North America and
